STRENGTH & MOBILITY

EXERCISES

It’s all about finding the balance between strength and mobility. The body needs both, but differs in specific areas based on function of those muscles. R3 Mobile PT uses a mobile app to house all patient exercise plans where you can rate your symptoms each day, view videos of your strength and mobility exercises, and mark them complete once you do them. Each session you are given new exercises to progress you through your plan of care.

Strength Exercises

There are so many benefits to strength training and I am a strong believer that movement is medicine! I bring the equipment to you and we can also incorporate what you have at home!

I use a mixed approach of strengthening styles:

  1. Targeting specific muscles that I have identified as ”needing help” on the evaluation because they either aren’t doing their job, lacking endurance, or are maybe being recruited too much. You will incorporate these individualized rehab exercises in your at-home exercise plan throughout the week.

  2. Strengthening the whole body, because it’s one big chain and everything connects. We need a strong foundation of those big muscle groups.

  3. Depending on your goals and your favorite ways to exercise we’ll focus on barre and sculpt/ mat pilates exercises, or strength training.

Mobility Training

I address mobility deficits in an active style by including movements in and out of the end range of motion, also known as dynamic stretching.

This style has been shown to be more beneficial than static stretching, but of course there is a time and place for everything.

The way forces travel up through our body’s chain can be greatly affected if there is not adequate mobility in a joint that should be mobile, and vice versa for our more stable joints! Addressing range of motion concerns with mobility training is a very important aspect for regaining function.
