How to lose the postpartum weight through strength training, interview with dietitian. Is weight gain a risk factor for having bladder leakage?
HI FRIEND,
You know that I treat the pelvic floor and your bladder leakage from a whole body perspective, well- that's why today I'm so excited to have my first guest on Stop Peeing Your Pants podcast, meet Rachel DeSonier, an experienced dietitian!
Rachel has a specific approach to weight loss *spoiler alert* it's not actually weight loss you're looking for, it's FAT LOSS! And she explains all of her methods in this episode and how she uses strength training to help her clients do so in a sustainable, easy way for mamas just like you!
How is this related to peeing my pants?
First of all, did you know that obesity and urinary incontinence (both stress and urge) are deeply linked?
These two topics are SO related for that purpose alone, but not to mention your nutrition and fiber intake! Which we know that constipation is the #1 contributing factor to bladder leakage.
After you get all of that squared away, I want to invite you to join me in my course: Stop Peeing Your Pants, where you will learn how to change your posture for the better, connect with your core, and stop peeing your pants in 90 days or less!

Will fat loss get me the results I’m looking for? Weight loss vs fat loss
Rachel explains that weight loss is just relative to a number on the scale, but not to how you actually feel in your body. If you are looking to be tone, and lean, then fat loss is what you should be setting your goals towards.
When we strength train, our body pulls our muscles into the “vital” category, which automatically then puts our fat cells as the target cells to burn up! Yay! That’s when we see RESULTS.
But, I don’t want to strength train because I don’t want to look “bulky”
Don’t you worry, Rachel explains in this episode that the people that appear super “bulky” are usually on some type of enhancing medication to achieve this look. YOU’LL likely achieve more of the toned and defined look with the proper nutrition to fuel you and the appropriate exercise progressions! Both of which Rachel can give you through her coaching.
