Living life without limits
I feel it’s only appropriate for my first blog post to be about why I started my private mobile physical therapy practice serving women that no longer want to live life without limits.
I joined a barre studio back in March and that was the first time I ever worked out in a group class. I used to think group workouts were not for me, and honestly never liked the thought of someone else making my workouts for me.
However, just from my short time at the studio I have learned so many things about myself, other women, and that going to a planned class is actually relaxing because I didn’t have to do any of the prep work! :D
If you’ve never been to a barre studio, they are usually lined with floor to ceiling mirrors. I always pick the spot at the front of the class so that it forces me to stare myself down and not analyze other people’s movements… you know, since that’s what physical therapists can’t help but notice.
Of course there are some times during class where we all face each other and I can’t help but notice when women show signs of discomfort and pain. It’s very easy for me to see and read those fascial expressions, rubbing their hand down their leg or booty, arching their back to get relief, it’s all very second nature to me.
I began to think of how sucky it would be to be limited by pain, numbness, discomfort, whatever it may be during your workout. Something that you’re showing up for, putting the time in, trying to better yourself, yet you’re being limited. I would absolutely hate that for me and I don’t like that for anyone else. As I looked around the barre studio, I really felt for all of those busy women and moms.
That small observation at the studio sparked the perfect brain storm of starting a mobile private physical therapy practice in North Peoria, Arizona area. I wanted to focus on holistic orthopedic care, helping women get back to their favorite activities and workouts, whether that was postpartum 2 weeks or 9 years ago.
And so the foundation of R3 Mobile Physical Therapy was laid!
